We retire older fire-hazard equipment — Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco, Pushmatic, and older Sylvania panels — and install current-generation Square D, Eaton, and Siemens panel-class equipment. What a panel upgrade involves
A typical upgrade means coordinating a disconnect with the utility, replacing the panel and main breaker, and often the meter socket and service-entrance conductors too. Circuits are moved to the new panel, labeled, and brought up to the requirements that apply today. Depending on the job, we can also add:
- Federal Pacific, Zinsco, Pushmatic and older Sylvania panel retirement. These panels show up all the time in older southern NH homes, and many homeowners hear about them first from a home inspector.
- Generator interlocks so a portable generator can safely back-feed selected circuits.
- Whole-house surge protection installed right at the panel.
- Panel relocation, which is common when a basement is being finished.
- Heat-pump conversion upgrades, when adding heat pumps or mini-splits means the existing service doesn’t have the capacity.

Permits and inspection in NH
Panel and service work in New Hampshire generally needs an electrical permit from the town or city, an inspection by the local inspector, and coordination with the utility to disconnect and reconnect power. Requirements differ from town to town. We handle the permit and inspection process as part of the job, so you don’t have to chase it.

Is my Federal Pacific panel dangerous?
FPE, Zinsco and Pushmatic panels are widely flagged by inspectors and insurers. Call and we’ll look at yours and give you a straight answer, with a free estimate to replace it.
Do I need 200 amps?
It depends on what you run now and what you’re planning to add. Brian will do a load review and recommend the size that fits, without upselling.

The 1950s–80s housing stock around Nashua's south end and the Manchester West Side still carries plenty of Federal Pacific Stab-Lok, Zinsco, and Pushmatic panels — equipment that should be retired on safety grounds, not just upgraded for capacity. Heat-pump and EV adoption around Hudson, Hooksett, and the Lakes Region is the second main driver, since most older 100A services run out of headroom before the new load lands.
